What is the Rocket APT Challenge?

Are you pursuing a degree in technology, engineering, or science? Want to showcase your programming prowess? Sign up for the Rocket APT Challenge and you could win up to $5,000 (USD), the chance to compete for a share in the grand prize of $24,000 (USD), and an all-expenses-paid trip to Rocket.Build near Boston, Massachusetts, USA!

The Challenge uses the Rocket MultiValue application platform - a real-world application development platform used by thousands of well-known, large organizations around the world - which combines an embedded database and development platform, so you can easily create applications.

Not familiar with MultiValue? Not a problem. We provide the database and tools, and loads of resources so you can hit the ground running. All you need to do is apply your ingenuity and desire to succeed.

This year, the theme for your application is Improve Your Community.

Questions

A panel of Judges will focus on the following areas of your solution:

1) Community – Does your solution provide a clear value to the Community? Improving the lives of those in the Community; connecting the Community in new ways or extending the reach of the Community beyond its currently constraints or boundaries.

2) Innovation – Does your solution demonstrate an innovative way to solve a problem through its approach or implementation.

3) Design – Does your solution have an intuitive design making the solution easy to use and taking advantage of modern UX/UI standards.

4) Rocket – Does your solution make extensive use of the breadth of Rocket products supplied in the competition stack.
In April 2019, three winners will be selected from each region and will be awarded a cash prize. The third place winner will receive $1,000 USD, second place $2,500 USD, and the first-place winner will receive $5,000 USD. In addition, each of the nine winners will travel, expenses-paid, to Massachusetts in June of 2019 for Rocket.Build 2019, where they will see some of the world’s leading programmers in action. While at Rocket.Build, the regional winners will compete, in teams of 3, in the final round of the Rocket APT Challenge to decide the global team winner, which is a shared grand prize of $24,000 USD.

April 2019: Judging and announcement of regional winners
